Sun Tattoos
I would give you the sun and the moon and the stars if only they were mine to give but with Sun Tattoos, they actually can be yours to give or to receive. Sun tattoos, star tattoos and even moon tattoos are very popular themes for skin art and as tattoo technology advances, so does the beauty of many of these astrological and even astronomy based tattoos. The sun tattoo is only a small sampling of what is in store for you here though.
Sun Tattoos may have been reserved for those priests who worshipped the stars and the moon in the old Incan and Mayan empires but there is almost no limit to the types of sun tattoos that are available these days. You can even get shooting star tattoos should you be so inclined. Many of these sun tattoos are based on naturally occurring astronomical events but the zodiac tattoos and many of the sun and star tattoos are based on the astrological symbols.
These are sometimes done in the form of constellation tattoos representing the time of year or the astrological sign under which the owner of the tattoo art was born. As a rule though, these types of tattoos are generally very limited in scope. Often times they will accompany lower back tattoos as the sky portion of a full scene tattoo on the back and the solar tattoos or star tattoos will be part of the sky in that tattooed scene.
Many of the sun tattoos are often associated with other mythical or mystical creatures as well. Sun tattoos surrounded by fairy tattoos or even angel tattoos are not all that uncommon. Again, it is as much based on your personal preferences as it is any actual symbolism of the tattoos that are being worn. Many Wiccans and even some Pagans who understand the nature of Mother Gaia will have sun tattoos, star tattoos and tattoos depicting scenes in nature and the surrounding natural environment emblazoned onto their persons as a representation of their faith. Still, a great portion of the beauty of tattoos in modern times is that these sun tattoos and nature tattoos are just as readily available for someone with no set system of beliefs as they are for people who do use them as a means of personal expression regarding faith.
Whether you have a sun tattoo or any other tattoo, it remains a personal expression but no tattoo has to represent anything other than something that you enjoy as a living, breathing display of tattoo art. Many people have no other reason to select tattoos except that they are something that the individual in question likes and appreciates. The sun tattoos, star tattoos and moon tattoos that are available however, are varied and diverse enough in nature to appeal to a very wide audience. These days, if someone tries to tell you that the sun, the moon and the stars are not for anyone to give or to receive, you can roll up your sleeve and show them your sun tattoos and let them know that their opinion could at the very least, be revised.
