Hummingbird Tattoos
Hummingbird Tattoos are symbolic of many different things including being fast, free and very likely, always on the go as well. While the hummingbird tattoos may have been among the more feminine tattoos in the past, modern tattoo designs have brought them to the forefront in many different respects. These days, the hummingbird tattoos often grace much larger tattoos, often serving to “lift” the larger back tattoos, chest tattoos and even some of the scroll tattoos, giving them the appearance of being set free or turned loose.
Hummingbird tattoos are actually among the most common bird tattoos with other popular bird tattoo designs being the eagle tattoos, the phoenix tattoos (which has grown exceptionally popular as the Harry Potter generation grows up) and even butterfly tattoos and other wings tattoos featuring smaller, more detailed birds flitting away on their own or as an enhancement to the larger tattoos. In fact, animal tattoos of all kinds are increasingly popular among many of the more masculine tattoos as well … including the hummingbird tattoos.
While the Hummingbird tattoos may have been relatively rare among the Hawaiian tattoos and other ancient tribal tattoos, they did exist. Generally the hummingbird tattoos represented someone who was extremely fleet of foot and was probably a
messenger or able to get out of a situation as quickly as they managed to get into it. In olden times, a hummingbird tattoo would not have been considered overly feminine by any stretch of the imagination and was probably worn (and won) with a great deal of pride in the tattoos design and creation.
Many of the larger tattoo designs include intricate scenes involving far too many different aspects to be fully appreciated. In many of these instances, they are drawn on as scroll tattoos or tattoos that are seemingly painted on a “secondary canvas” in addition to being painted on the body. For example, some scenic tattoos may be placed as if on pages or on a painting drawn on canvas with the entire tattoo scenes being lifted up on the edges by hummingbird tattoos that were drawn outside of the tattoo scenes themselves. The hummingbird tattoos often appear alongside of eagle tattoos, cherub tattoos and other smaller tattoos, carrying their burden together into freedom itself.
Hummingbird tattoos are often very popular features of wrist tattoos and ankle tattoos as well. Many times these hummingbird tattoos are inverted and joined together in such a way that they could easily be mistaken for a very fashionable bracelet or anklet. The hummingbird tattoos also remain a very popular option for shoulder tattoos where the wearer can still have their tattoo but also hide it and keep their tattoo art discreet when the situation calls for it.
The next time you go to dismiss a tattoo just because you believe that it may be a little bit effeminate in nature, you may want to try looking around at some of the tattoo flash galleries here and you may be surprised to discover just how many uses there actually are for that particular tattoo. Hummingbird tattoos are no exception here and as you may realize now, the hummingbird tattoos really can help to enhance your other tattoos or be beautiful works of tattoo art all on their own.
