Bull Tattoos
Bull tattoos are symbolic of strength and leadership and the ability to come through just about any scenario, if not unscathed, at least intact. The bull tattoos come in a wide range of styles and designs from the tattoos featuring comic book bulls all the way to ancient tribal tattoos featuring the bull tattoos as part of a warrior leader’s strengths and his ability to guide and lead the tribal affairs through both good times and bad. Bull tattoos have a rich and honored history but these days like so many other tattoo designs, the bull tattoos are undergoing some major changes and renovations.
Bull tattoos can feature such mythical creatures as Babe the Big Blue Ox or the mythical Minotaur half man half bull tattoos. More traditional bull tattoos were common among many of the ancient tribal tattoos though, where they were used along with other animal tattoos like eagle tattoos, hawk tattoos and more, all of which represented certain strengths of those animals. In this way, it was believed that the bull tattoos were believed to convey some of the bull’s power to the person wearing them. It is difficult to say whether the best tattoos are the traditional bull tattoos or the custom tattoos featuring more modern representations of the bull tattoos.
The power of the bull and the power conveyed or implied by the bull tattoos was sometimes more in line with the fire tattoos in the ancient tribal tattoos insofar as they were more about brute strength and the power or ability to destroy everything in their path. In some cases however, both the fire tattoos and the bull tattoos were used to symbolize the power to transform and to use the awesome power they implied to destroy the old and ring in the new. Given the implications though, you may not want to have your bull tattoos placed right next to your angel tattoos, cross tattoos or other Christian tattoos.
The bull is praised in many of the pagan cultures and these bull tattoos are often drawn in praise of just such a worship and system of belief and tattoo symbolism. It may tend to send mixed messages putting religious tattoos right next to bull tattoos and other pagan tattoos. While the best tattoos and combinations are certainly left up to the person getting the tattoo art, some combinations of tattoos seem to work better than others. Still, the bull tattoos like the people who wear them are often more complex that what meets the eye at first glance.
